  • Delayed Robot Respones

My team has finally got our robot running. Only one problem, there is a 2-3 second delay between the movement of the joystick and the response of our robot.

We have calibrated our joystick and are controlling our robot via wireless connection. Anyone have advice for us?

Do you have camera code running as well?

We found a couple of years ago that when using the camera, or running on a slow laptop that without deploying the code to the robot and not running in debug mode we would see lags in the robot actions.

Also, check your program to make sure you are not spending too much time in a loop or something like that where servicing messages from the driver station is not processed in a timely way, you will see delays if the main loop is not executed enough.

      Re: Delayed Robot Respones

      Steinra,

Thanks for offering your help. The robot's delayed response was a result of deploying our code via wireless radio. After deploying the code with a crossover cable, the robot ran as expected. Deploying the code wirelessly must have corrupted the files.

If possible, can you help us with another problem? You posted information regarding the addition of another joystick in another forum post. I followed your instructions, but have not been able to successfully add another motor for our minibot deployment system. Do you think you could post a sample for our rookie team?

attached are several screen shots of the begin.vi and the teleop.vi. I will attach them as well.

In begin you will open a new motor and store the reference. Then in teleop you will get that reference and then if a button is pressed run the motor full speed.

Let me know you have questions.
