  • 4 Mecanum Wheels operation using 2 motors

Hi all, I am completely new to this forum. I came here after someone recommended this site in quora. Currently, I am working on a project using mecanum wheels, where i use 4 motors individual motors to run/perform the wheels. I want to reduce the motors to two but perform the same operation which is forward/reverse/rotate/sideways/diagonally at a same time. The only way i can get is creating a gear mechanism I think. If u guys have any suggestions or ideas to solve this task, i would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the FIRST Forums.

Unfortunately what you are asking is not possible. The motion you are describing has 3 degrees of freedom (X, Y, Rotation). Independently controlling all 3 DoF cannot be accomplished with only 2 inputs. An example of a holonomic drive platform using 3 inputs is the Kiwi Drive.
