    Motor mounting help

Team 1554 would like some advice regarding the best way to dirrectly mount a Cim motor to an axel. We're having a little trouble with the mechanics/best way to proceed so advice would be greatly appreciated.

While I have no evidence this is the "best" way, we mount our CIMs using the mounting holes provided. You want isolation of the shaft of the motor from the axle, so that large forces from hitting things or being hit are not transmitted to the relatively small bearings inside the CIM motor. Chains, belts, and gears are popular isolators. You could use a isolation collar, but that's another thing you would have to source.
