  • Driver's station software on Windows 7

The new Classmates only come with Windows 7. Has anyone run the Driver's Station software on Windows 7? FIRST hasn't yet been able to say whether it works or not, despite several phone calls.

Re: Driver's station software on Windows 7

The Driver Station software for 2011 will run on Windows 7. The 2010 version currently works with Windows 7, but with some known issues (FIRST Touch board is not fully supported, IP addressing needs to be set manually, etc.)

FRC Beta teams are currently evaluating the 2011 Driver Station software. I suggest posting over in the 2011 Beta Test forum for more details.

Does anyone know if the 2goPC flash upgrade provided at the 2011 kick-off is supposed to be genuine and is there any issue if its not "Genuine" ? .. After the upgrade it said I needed to talk to the Key Manager to rectify this issue.. ?

      Thanks in advance

Yeah........Our Team can't activate Windows 7 on the laptop provided in the kit. After the installation, I went into windows and went to the Windows Activation Wizard. It produced the error code: 0x8007232B. I've been cruising the Microsoft forums, and it appears to be a problem with volume licensing. It needs to talk with a KMS host to activate. I suppose one such host is back at the place that originally installed Windows 7 on these computers, but that means we cannot get at the server. Someone! Help us! PLEASE!!!!!! If we don't activate, we won't be able to control our bot at the competition!

We are getting the same error. I hope this can be fixed within the next 30 days. After that the machine will be useless. I did find something interesting. The classmate_update.bat file is mearly extending the activation timeout. The command slmgr /rearm just extends the activation period another 30days. However, it is limited on the number of times it can be run. I don't know more details than that, but I found this site to be helpful (http://www.blogsolute.com/reset-rear...-forever/6379/) I did not run through the steps. I am hoping another, more legitimate, fix comes out before I have to.

Has anybody found a fix for this issue yet...I am also getting the Error Code 0x8007232B when trying to activate windows 7. Even after running updates, it still won't activate windows.

Re: Driver's station software on Windows 7

I helped with the Jump Start Build at Team Combustion #1912's high school. There, we had at least 20 teams trying to get the basics up and running.

Well, we had a 100% failure in activation. No one was able to activate their Classmate PCs.

Re: Driver's station software on Windows 7

I have an update. After some research it appears that the classmate_update.bat file simply is a hack. When run it resets the activation timer on Windows 7. This would be a good solution only if the activation extension was good for more than 4 times. What I am saying is be careful when you run classmate_update.bat. Only run it once. After the first time running it, you should be able to use the classmate for another 30 days without a warning about the operating system being genuine. At such time you can run the classmate_update.bat file again to get another 30 days.

I don't like this solution because it assumes too much. Your other alternative besides running classmate_update.bat every 30 days is to re-image and reinstall the O/S and the software when you are no longer able to use the system.
