The EL wire and associated power supply would be considered a custom circuit, per R40. EL wire that I'm familiar with requires around 100v. Based on the voltage limits in R40, the EL wire I'm familiar with would be illegal.

    Hi,

    Welcome to the FIRST forums!

Just a reminder that while this forum can be used to discuss rules and other posters are free to provide their interpretation, official responses will only be provided via the FRC Q&A system: http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprogr...c/game-q-and-a. Electroluminescent wire

Hi, I would like to present a question about decoration of the robot.

One of my fellow team members suggested using electroluminescent wire. Electroluminscent wire is basically a thin copper wire coated in a phosphor which glows when an alternating current is applied to it. Is this allowed? We could not find anything in the manual against it, but I would like to double check to avoid breaking any rules.
    Thanks!
